Vikas’s Answer

Hey Tre'Beon,

I'm here with some of my colleagues at Siemens. He would say this is a great place to work for mechanical engineers! We offer opportunities for design, manufacturing, prototyping, and hand-on design work. One of the things he enjoys most is working for a large company since there are a large array of products and industries that we touch including electric vehicle charging, power distribution, energy storage, and smart grid.

Outside of Siemens, there are other great employers as well. I would suggest looking at sites like Glassdoor to get a better idea of a company's culture and environment.

Taylor’s Answer

Hi Tre!

Mechanical Engineers are literally involved in almost anything and everything you can think of! Its one of the most diverse and flexible engineering disciplines. For example, I have friends who work out on the rig for a large oil company and others that are helping design engines for Boeing (heat transfer). I think it just really depends on what industry you are interested in and it most likely will have mechanical engineers involved in that area.

Just to give you a taste of the variety, we need mechanical engineers to distribute heat in our data centers. Hope that answers your question. Best is a bit ambiguous. If you mean by pay, I would say the tech sector or gas/oil. It all depends on what you are looking for.
