Hi! I’ve been a medical assistant for over a year now and I’ve worked at multiple dermatology clinics! I’d say it really depends on the practice or hospital you work for. My current practice is very busy and fast paced, so I was up and running in about 3 weeks. My first 2 weeks was just shadowing and following other MAs and professionals around. For these 2 weeks, I didn’t do anything on my own and always had another assistant training me. Because I caught on very fast, I was able to work on my own after 3 weeks of training. This is not the case for every office. Some offices will have you train for 3 months before you can take patients back on your own. This really depends on the office :) if you have any more specific questions, please ask!

Since no one has answered this yet, It maybe good idea to get in contact with a MA at your local hospital and ask for an informational interview with them or just a sit down in exchange for you buying them coffee and let them share their experience and answer any questions you may have.
