Should I include a resume before applying for a high school internship?

I'm a high schooler who would like to get an internship at a local college. Is sending an email asking for one enough or should I also add a resume? #internships #internship #job-application

Thank you comment icon Hi Katia! I think if you have enough to put on a resume, you should definitely send them one. Your resume should list your qualifications and any work you did that shows that you are qualified for the internship. Good luck on finding one! Albert

I think it would make you look more professional and distinguish yourself from the other applicants if you submitted a resume. Look online for some templates, visit the library or stop by your guidance counselor's office for help if you don't have one already.

Thank you comment icon Thank you so much for your answer! I had the same line of thought when thinking about whether I should include one or not. Katia
Thank you comment icon I couldn't agree more, it makes you look more professional. Besides that you get used to writing a resume and you will already have some kind of "basic" resume, when you apply for a job later, e.g. after university. Tobias Schaerff

Hi Katia,

A resume is always a good idea for any interview. It's ok if you don't have much experience, focus on things that would make you a strong candidate for the internship. If you have have work experience, list your experience and frame it in such a way that could yield a meaningful conversation that ties into the role. If you've yet to venture into the workforce, focus on things like volunteering, school activities, clubs and organizations, and interests that align with the internship that interests you. Best of luck!
