Hi Michael,
To become good at anything you will need to invest the time and practice it. You can do this not only by physically do it, but reading on the different types of welding. How set up your machine for the different types of welding or even the basic steps to making a good weld. There are also different manufacture websites that offer lots of information on welding and the different types of welding process. Having good basic understanding of the process will make your first hands on weld successful. I hope this was helpful. I wish you the very best in your journey. Please let me know how its goes.

How to weld better? You know, if I had a dollar for every time I asked this question to myself I would have to weld any more! To answer your question Michael, it’s time. Put time in under the hood. Take time to listen to your instructor(s). Take time to learn different techniques and use them to see if they fit your style. Every person is different. Some techniques work for others that may not work for you. Maybe take a little from here and a bit from there and make it your own.
The other aspect of this question, is another answer. Have patience. Being a great welder takes a lot of patience. If you put in the time and have patience, I’m sure you’ll do great. Don’t give up or give in to defeat. Best of luck!
