What would suggest. Would you go to college and get a business degree or start taking real estate classes right after you graduate and take online business classes as you are a real estate agent.

I am a junior and can't decide if I want to go to college first or if I should take real estate classes first. #college #real-estate

I would suggest getting a business degree to expand your options. Nearly, every company has some type of real estate organization to manage the properties with the company.

As a real estate professional in the past, your real estate classes/certification are the best approach to get started. You may find yourself wanting to evolve into business as well as other areas once you are in the field and working.

If you want to sell real estate, get you license and start. You can start classes after you are selling. You can also be making money to pay for Business Classes. Business classes won't prepare you for the Principles Real Estate Exam.

It will not hurt to start your career as soon as possible. You will have the opportunity to allocate time during the weekend and during the week to focus on your career while obtaining your undergraduate degree. The experience you will obtain in your professional career will help your college career.

Maggie’s Answer

I would agree with the points above but just wanted to add 2 things:
1. Make sure you are completing your degree at the same time. If you focus everything on real estate and don't get your degree, pivoting to a new job if you ever want to will be much more difficult. You want to make sure you create options for the future, not pigeon hold yourself to one career path.

2. As a young professional, make sure you go into your real estate career walking the walk. People want to buy houses from people they trust and respect. Sometimes, as a young professional, people take your age as sign of inexperience and inability. Make sure to bring your all to what you do and don't give them any reason to see you as any less of a professional as any other real estate agent.

Good Luck!
