Yes, there is a need for interior designers in most major metro areas and in many smaller cities too. Check online with the U.S. Department of Labor to find out more about need and pay.


To work on commercial projects, you almost always need to have a bachelor's degree. To work in the residential field, some have a 4-year degree, but many also work with a 2-year associates degree and/or a certificate in an area of specialization such as Technical, Kitchen & Bath, Perspective & Rendering or Green Design.
