Hi Hadi,
It's great to start thinking about how you can reach your career goal of becoming a freight forwarder! This is a very interesting field with a lot of potential and growth. I studied international trade in graduate school and although I have not worked as a freight forwarder, I am somewhat familiar with the duties of one.
You may want to consider choosing a major that is related to freight forwarding and will give you the opportunity for internships in the field. Not many colleges offer a major in this field directly but many offer similar coursework such as majors in supply chain logistics or international trade.
There also may be opportunities to learn about this field from community colleges. For example, Wake Tech Community College in North Carolina has several certificates in supply chain management, international logistics, etc. that would give you the skills necessary to become a freight forwarder. See more here: https://www.waketech.edu/programs-courses/credit/supply-chain-management/certificates
I also recommend looking around on the website of the National Custom Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association of America (NCBFFA) http://www.ncbfaa.org/ They have a lot of great information about the freight forwarding industry and have information about further education for new and aspiring freight forwarders.
Finally, consider choosing a college that is near a major port or airport so that you have the opportunity to intern with a freight forwarder likely located in the area to learn more about this field. I think if you find a college or community college that has internship opportunities in a freight forwarding company nearby and a logistics/trade major you will be on the right track!
Best of luck! Feel free to write back if you have further questions.
