What are some lower stress jobs in the nursing field?

I want to work as a nurse ( thinking in pediatrics, or mental health, though not limited to those) but have a somewhat low tolerance to stress. I want to enjoy the work and not feel too overwhelmed. #nurse

Nursing can be stressful since so we are responsible for so much! I've been a case manager for 10 years and event hough I'm not as stressed as being in the hospital working on the floor I am resonsible for the patient as a whole and their disease (think like Diabetes) they require a lot of education, hand holding and help sometimes. I think something like Utilization management might be good since it's not patient facing. For this type of nursing you really focus on the financial aspect - what benefits does the patient have and do they meet criteria for something (like a surgery). Nursing education and research are also good suggestions! All jobs are stressful, you just have to focus on the why and how you feel after you help someone!

Hello Katherine
While nursing is a very satisfying job as you care for people and when they get well , its the most blissful feeling. However there is downside to this also as high demand and sometimes sickness all around.
Here are some options to start with in my view
Nurse admin
Home care nurse
Clinical research nurse
Nurse education/information - This will need some on the ground experience
Special case management nurses.

Good Luck with your search!!
