Hi Trayquil!
Congratulations on being interested in engineering. It is a very broad career area with a myriad of applications and specialties.

Since the career area is so broad, there will always be opportunities. However, since the area is so broad, it is important to select an area of engineering that is most likely to identify with your personality, interests, and aptitudes. When I was doing college recruiting for engineers, the most frustrating times that I had were the times when a graduate, once on the job, found that he did not like the job into which he was hired, because he did not do enough career exploration. Selecting a career area is like buying a pair of shoes. They may look great, but you need to try them on and walk in them for a while to determine proper fit and comfort.
Here is a site that was created for people like you who are interested in engineering:

Best of luck on your journey. Let me know if and how this is of help. Keep me posted. I would like to follow your progress.

Lots of questions from you, today, Trayquil. After 40 years in the engineering field, here is my take:
Civil Engineering is a very broad field with a high demand. Disciplines include Structural bridges, buildings, etc.), Water Supply, Wastewater, Water Resources (hydrology, river basin planning, flood control), transportation (roads, airports, railroads, ports), and geotechnical engineering. There is a high demand both in government and private consulting firms.
Computer engineering/programming is another high-demand field that pays well.
