Which schools have the best programs for transfer students?

I will be graduating this May with an associate's degree. I'm looking for schools that have human resources or business administration programs that will accept all or most of my 70 credits. I've been looking around at the colleges in my area. I'm asking for a second opinion. #college #college-major #college-bound #human-resources #college-selection

Hi Montessa!

You are in an interesting situation.

The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that this is the area in which you want as your career. I majored in Human Resources and ignored that fact that much of Human Resources deals with conflict resolution, and, therefore, became involved in a career area that was very frustrating, as that was an area in which I was uncomfortable.

The answer to your original question is that most any college will accept your community college credits, but you need to make sure that you know what major is best for you. Try not to make the same mistake that I did. I should have done more networking at the beginning and paid closer attention to my feelings.

Best of luck! Keep me posted.

Hi Montessa,

That's great to hear you're interested in a career in Human Resources! I majored in Human & Organizational Development which prepared me well for this career path. Even if you go to a school without a traditional human resources or business administration programs, they may have other majors that are still relevant. My major was unique to my school so I recommend you ask if there are any unique programs that relate to the field. It was very interdisciplinary including classes in psychology, business, public policy, and statistics, which have all benefited me in my career. Additionally, some schools allow you to develop your own major if they don't have what you're looking for.

In terms of schools with the best programs for transfer students, starting with some basic lists online may be helpful. This list from US News & World Report has a list of schools with the most transfer students. Because of that, some of these schools may be more flexible in accepting your transfer credits, but you could confirm on their websites https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/most-transfers.

If you are set on attending a college in your area, it may be worth researching those colleges specifically to determine their transfer transfer policies and what HR programs they may have.
