Hi Kevin!

There definitely are benefits when it comes to being in clubs in both high school and college. These benefits include:

- Clubs give you the opportunity to pursue leadership positions. For example, if you find a club you are greatly invested in you could run to be one of their board members!
- Clubs connect you with people that have similar interests. This can grow into meaningful friendships that can enhance your college experience.
- Clubs allow you to explore passions and interests. For example, if you go to college and are unsure if a career path you want to pursue, by joining a club related to that field you can determine if that career path is right for you. On the other hand, joining a club also allows you explore interests and passions that are not directly related to your major. In college, I participated in cultural clubs and this allowed me gain a greater cultural awareness and enhance my identity!

Janice’s Answer

Joining clubs and groups allows you to meet others with your same interest or hobby. If this is a pleasure activity for you, perhaps you can gain more skill in the activity or mentor others.
There are many clubs available from sports to chess to reading and writing. Welcome others into the club/group to diversify your interests.
Academics are very important when attending school and college. However, it is important to round out your interests and develop friendships.
Have fun in your clubs Kevin!

Hi Kevin! I can give you 5 benefits when it comes to joining clubs especially if you're a college freshmen or transfer student.

1. New Friends
2. Building your professional network
3. Gaining new skills
4. Maximizing your time
5. Displaying your skills

The experience will definitely be what you make it, but joining clubs allows you to have new experiences that you can put on your resume and talk about in interviews. It also allows you to make lifelong connections, so there's definitely a need for it.

it helps you network because you will be meeting others who already have something in common with you. If you decide to take on a position in the club it will also help develop your leadership and organization skills

Hi Kevin! When it comes to benefits, clubs, especially the ones that are related to your academic interests, will be useful in introducing you to the field, to other students who share similar interests, speakers/guests who have career experience in that field and volunteering/internship opportunities. This sort of insight knowledge can be very helpful in opening up career and networking opportunities.
