Shaina,
Take small steps. Do a little bit each day. Perhaps make a list of things that interest you and spend an hour every day for a month researching and engaging with that interest. Find others who have similar interests and connect with them. Take a class online (there are so many free courses available for many different topics). Then move onto another interest the next month and so on. If you get to the end of the month and you feel you need/want more time, take it.
Also, start asking yourself questions like:
1. What do I like to do?
2. What types of things bring me the most satisfaction?
3. Out of the things I have done in the past, what have I liked the most about those jobs or experiences and what have I liked the least?
Self-reflection is a good place to start because the more you learn about yourself, the more confident you will be moving forward into the career path of your choice. And, if you get into something and you decide you don't like it as much as you thought, that is okay. Simply reevaluate your answers to the questions I mentioned above or maybe you will have found different questions that work better for you.

Hello Shaina M
Focus on what you like and practice same thing which is challenging until it becomes life's habit .So, you become expert.
Once your expert on something, You should be able to derive something from your learning and apply the same formula for new learnings and that's how you can keep improving. Maintain a simple journal & explore yourself. All the best !!

Hey Shaina!
The main focus here is to keep it simple; a list of prioritized activities or skills is the key for you to avoid overwhelmed. It might be difficult because at some point you can fell that every single thing you need or want to do is important, but really take a look at you and what do you want. Make this list and at the end of every day ask yourself "What did I missed today?" "What could I have done today better" "Where did I spend must of time with and why?" "Can I do something more in my day to day?", this will help you prioritizing every skill and activity everyday, and soon, you will see you have done everything.
Hope this Helps,
Good luck!

Hi Shaina, no matter the path you choose, know that it is never final. You will have many opportunities to change course along the way. I have personally changed careers a few times already, and although it is not easy, it grants me perspective that I might otherwise not have gained. The important thing to focus on is that you are building skills in every job you hold and you are able to communicate to others how these skills are transferrable. Take the long view and be flexible to change along the way.
Thank you for the advice.

Hello! It might help to prioritize your skills, what your interests are and your goals (short and long term). Take time to write down these things, so you don't forget. As you do this, you'll likely start to narrow some things down. I also recommend putting together a list of things you are passionate about and things you know you definitely do not want to do in your career or be a part of your lifestyle. For example, let's say you love working with computers and are passionate about finding solutions to problems but you also know you don't like managing people or being responsible for people's careers. In this case, you may consider jobs as an individual contributor at a growing start up business that is looking for people to grow the company's tech systems and already has leadership established.
I hope this helps!

Thank you Ms. Angela for your advice!!!

Do you have any idea what career you would like to do? Firstly, you may find out what career you would like to do before starting to prepare for it. I would suggest approach below:
1. Identify a few careers that you are interested in
2. Explore more on these careers and shortlist a few of them
3. Speak to someone who works in these careers to under what knowledge and skills require. Alternatively, you can discuss with the career counselor in your school
4. Confirm what career you would like to pursue. Find out the relevant course in the college and entry criteria
5. If entering the college, you can find any intern opportunities. You will have better exposure on the real working environment and determine any additional skills is required. You can take the relevant course before your graduation.
Hope this helps ! Good Luck!

Actually, I don't have a specific career in mind but I want to be in the tech and business industry. Thank you so much for your advice!!
Shaina
There is a ton of information in the tech world and sometimes it can all be very confusing. To start in the tech and business industry you can start with something simple. Verizon Wireless is a great company to work for and entry level sales positions can get you on the right track to then be able to move into a more "tech" centered position within the company. They also have a ton of training programs and educational tools that you would have access to.

For sure! I recommend Udemy (https://www.udemy.com/). They have a ton of free resources, etc. I also suggest you check out HubSpot Academy (https://academy.hubspot.com/). HubSpot is a popular CRM system that many companies use to organize their data (such as sales, contracts, appointments, etc.). They have a ton of resources for anything marketing-related. Lastly, if you want to get a feel for web development and coding, check out Codecademy (https://www.codecademy.com/). They have a subscription if you’re interested in getting a certification, but essentially, they make you “learn by doing.” They have a lot of different projects and languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, etc.) you can check out depending on where you’d like to go when it comes to coding!
Your advice was so helpful!

Hello Shaina,
Everyone here has shared great advice! I most definitely related to you during my college years, and I still feel that today! I'd say take advantage of free courses and network with professionals that are in the fields you are interested in.
Learning from free courses could be a great way to get an idea of what the field is like, and listening to other people's stories can give you unique perspectives!
Hope this helps!
