Smruti Ranjan’s Answer
In general, statistics is not a required course for a CS major. But if you look into today's trend, CS has expanded into boundaries to cloud. New concepts have already become old like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc. If you do not read Statistics, it will be like a major hole and this deficiency will drag down. A statistical background is a prerequisite for understanding algorithms and statistical properties that form the backbone of computer science.

Alexandra’s Answer
It depends on what career you are interested in. If you are interested mostly in computer science and you would like, for example, to become a software engineer, a Statistics class will not hurt you but you need to focus on computer science. However, if you are interested in a job in consulting or data science, a statistics class would be very valuable and will help you stand out among other candidates.
Thank you, Alexandra for the advice.

Honestly, I stopped reading after "Should I take statistics...". Yes. Everyone should take a stats class. Sure, you may not ever need to use a p-value in real life, but the fundamental understanding of statistics - averages, standard deviations, population, etc. - is good information for ANY adult.

Statistics is definitely a subject matter to learn. If you have any interest in working with AI and ML, understanding statistics and statistical models will be a necessity.
