Judith’s Answer

The machines you use would depend on the industry and company. I recommend looking up a few jobs that you would like to work in and look at the job responsibilities and requirements. This will help you determine the type of machines, software and equipment you would use.

David E.’s Answer

When working in a machine shop you will work with a multitude of different types of machining tools. These will vary from lathes to precision cutting tools. In a modern machine shop, the settings are mostly digitized and many are computer-driven. Understanding CAD drawings and how to program for nested operations can be very helpful as many of the cutting and finishing processes require an "if-then-else" type of programming.
