Would St. Scholastica be a good option if I would like to go into healthcare?
I have heard a lot about St. Scholastica and its amazing nursing program. I have thought about going into nursing, but I'm not sure if it is the part of healthcare I would like to focus on. I was wondering if, since I am still undecided, this school would really be a good option or not.

Thanks for asking this question. It can be overwhelming to decide what your career will be and what college to attend while in high school. The great thing about attending a college like St. Scholastica is that you are open to exploring many different options while you are in college. Typically the first 1-2 years are devoted to your basic or classic classes, English literature, Calculus, etc. You will have access to department heads and other students to ask questions about each department and what options are available once you graduate. You can visit your college career counselors for more information too. Now about nursing. Nurses are in high demand. My mother was a nurse and she loved it. Due to the pandemic, the demands placed on nurses and the entire medical community are at an all-time high. Many people are leaving due to burnout and stress. However, this is a great time to start. We won't be under this type of pressure forever. I believe the medical landscape will change by the time you graduate. Nursing is one of those careers you do because you care about people. If Nursing is in your heart you will know it. If it isn't that's okay too! Attending college you will begin your journey to discovering your life's passion. Your generation might be the multiple-career generation. Enjoy your journey to personal and professional fulfillment.

Hi Ingrid!
This can be a VERY difficult decision to say the very least! My suggestion would be to see if you can volunteer at healthcare facilities. They may include, your local hospitals, nursing homes and long term care facilities. You would be exposed to many facets of the health care field, not just nursing (though nursing is my personal favorite!). Physical therapy, Occupational and speech therapy, social workers and all kinds of other disciplines are needed to make up a health care team. If you decide your career is nursing, then I suggest a program that suits your learning abilities. Is this program all online? hybrid? tactile? these are important factors to consider when choosing a program. I wish you great things in your pursuit of higher education!
