Hello, Ruby,

This does not seem to be a question.

But I have had experience in the film, writing, and acting industries in both Pittsburgh, PA and LA.
First, choose college courses that will excite you and help you on your path to this type of work. Do you want to write? Do you want to act? Do you want to be behind the camera? What is it you are curious about doing in the film industry?

Once you know, then choose a college where you will get that schooling and that type of help.

I would advise you to start smaller - films are being made all over the US now, and you’ll have more of a chance of getting noticed in a smaller crew in say in North Carolina, than in a huge group in NY or LA. Once you establish a name for yourself, then these huge cities would be more easy for you to break into…..

But take classes and make good friends and stick together. You can do so much more with a good group, than on your own in the film industry.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hi Ruby!
This is such an amazing goal! My first advice to you is to figure out what you want to do in film specifically while you are still where you are. You certainly don't have to live in New York or LA to work in film, especially with how much of the industry is digital now! I live in Arizona and have a job in film as well as volunteer opportunities on sets, so it's all about what you make of it. If you've done as much as you feel you can in your own space, then moving for a new job can be a great idea! Keep working hard, and you will get there!
