You may want to contact your local cooperative extension and discuss job opportunities with them! They will also be a great networking resource for you and would be able to let you know what sort of environmental careers are available and valid. Look them up and send them either an email or go ahead and call. They will be very helpful!
The forestry department may also have some advice.
Depending on what your goals are, think outside the box! Go to plant nurseries and touch base with the staff. City hall may have volunteer opportunities for environmental clean-up, and contact the head of these programs to get more information.
