Is it a good choice for me to find jobs through agency?

Hello! I am thinking whether I should seek help from agency when I am looking for jobs. I guess it would be easier for me to find a job as I am lack of job experience as an university student. Besides, they would also able to help me to find the jobs which are not posted on job advertisements. However, the salary would usually be lower if I find a job through agency?

Thanks! #jobs

Hi,
I don't see anything wrong going through a job agency if you're not having success getting interviews through the usual ways. My dad went through a job agency and got into a great company. Yes the job agency takes a share of the paycheck but that is only for a temporary period. So make sure to check with your job agency on the terms.

As as manager myself, when i can't find good candidates for my team i usually go through a contracting company. I usually hire one of their contractors for 6 months and if they do well i just hire them full time.

Good luck !

HI!

Networking is your best bet towards getting into a job. When you go through an agency you lose control of the process and lose that very important personal interaction with the employer. Also, your agenda and that of the agency might not be the same. Sometimes, you really do not know what is going on in the process. I speak from being on both sides of the hiring process.

Here are some pointers on networking, through which many, many people find a job:

A better way to seek a job with a career path would be to look for internships with medium to larger companies. Those positions are designed for someone like you who does not have any work experience. The opportunities to grow into a full time, permanent position from an internship is much better than from an employment agency position.
