Is logistics a growing field?

I am not sure if it is growing or not, because I have seen that if a job is not growing, it is not as good of an idea to go into that area.

Autumn’s Answer

Hello! I majored transportation and logistics and graduated in 2005. Since then, there has never been a shortage in roles with the industry. I've been on both the operations side managing and executing day to day transportation and now presently supporting the Transportation Management Software solutions to support a global supply chain. The sky is the limit for the variety of jobs that support the end to end supply chain - order fulfillment in warehouses, transportation planners/ specialists/ analysts, software supporting the supply chain, drivers, and so many more. There are also multiple, professional and student groups that help individual learn more about fields of study and the best practices around the field such as the Council for Supply Chain Management professionals. Best of luck!

Autumn recommends the following next steps:

Research logistics, warehouse, and/ or transportation jobs.
Visit a local Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)
Research certifications and/ or degrees related to supply chain

Goods will need to continue to traverse the globe and there is a lot involved in the space from supply chain, to analytics to trade compliance.

Yes! Logistics is evolving all the time. I'm just starting out in the field and there's already so many possibilities. Just working as a transport associate at Amazon has given me so many avenues to take. From Data analytics to transportation specialties. The faster and more efficient we can move goods and services the better. Logistics will always evolve to meet the demands of the populace.
