DON'T GIVE UP ENA!!! Take it from someone who struggled to pass a Finance course my Sophomore year in college. The semester started off on a bad foot, but I took the initiative and applied myself. It not only took me being consistent with the reading and study material, but I made connections with people in my class and built a study group. This is primarily for accountability. Also, build a relationship with your teacher. DON'T BE AFRAID OF YOUR TEACHER!! They are there to support you and they will if you seek help. I would recommend that you try and schedule a time to meet and be very transparent with them. Let them know you are struggling (or at least unmotivated). Ask them to provide guidance and possibly any additional resources to learn.

Also, has anyone done a comprehension test with you? You're better off knowing how you learn best to figure out how to properly study.

Feel free to find me on LinkedIn - I'd be more than happy to provide more guidance.

PS: I ended up getting an A :-)

Brittnye's advice is excellent and I echo her sentiments. I hated Accounting and purposefully avoided it during high school and college only to end up having it required as a Master's level course! I was terrified! Talking to your teacher and forming a study group are excellent suggestions and definitely worked for me.

Go slowly and make sure you understand a concept before moving on to the next. Accounting often builds one principle on top of another so if you don't understand the first one you cannot truly understand the rest.

I took the course in the summer as my only course (working full-time) so that I could fully devote all my study time to this course as I knew it would be more difficult.

Find a friend (either in the class or out) who thinks like you do and understands the material and ask that person for help. Most people are willing to help if you just ask.

Good luck. You can do it!

I can relate and understand to struggle with an accounting class. However, it is very important to pass it and get good grade still. All of the suggestions above are great. Just realize its only class or two you have to take and you will be done with it. If you struggle with it, try to get in study group with people who like it and are doing well with it so they can help you.
