Hi Voc! I would say that most restaurant positions would not require a degree, however, any business courses or psychology classes will be helpful in the service industry. Knowing finances and how to work with all kinds of people and personalities will be a plus! Good luck!

It really depends on what you're aiming for. Servers and bussers generally don't require college degrees. However, if you're going into more managerial roles, a college degree would help in the long run since you have knowledge of managing a business. Good luck!

Nathan’s Answer

Hello, it depends on what position in a restaurant you are looking to do! If you just wanted to be a server/host then no, you wont need any sort of education. But if you were looking to become a manger or a head chef of some sort then you might, it all depends on what restaurant you are looking to work for. I hope this helps!

Gabi’s Answer

Hi Voc,

It depends on what type of job within the restaurant industry you are looking for. Typically, servers/bartenders/bussers will not require you to have a college degree, but if you are looking to have a manager position, some type of degree might be recommended. Ultimately, it depends on the restaurant. Good luck!
