Psychologist help people deal with problems ranging from short-term personal issues to severe, chronic conditions. And psychologists are trained to use a variety to approaches to help individuals?

I want to train to be a pathologist and continue my eleven year of education including four years of collage and going to medical school right after.

Thank you comment icon Hi Amaris! I’m a little confused by your question. You mention both “psychologist” and “pathologist” above, but I’m not sure which career you’re actually asking about. Could you edit your question to clarify which career you are interested in? Alexandra Carpenter, Admin

Yes, generally psychologists might use various therapy methods or be a specialist in helping people with certain kinds of issues or goals--relationships, mental health generally, trauma, eating disorders, addictions, etc.

One pretty good place I know of that offers Masters programs in psychology fields is The Townsend Institute (https://www.cui.edu/townsend). You could look up their website and see what you think.

Hi Amaris,
If you are looking at Psychology, you do not need to go to med school. Psychiatry is the only mental health field that I know of that requires medical school. Otherwise, Psychology typically will look like getting a doctorate degree at a graduate school. There are also many other mental health fields that you can work with individuals in a similar capacity--ranging from Psychiatric nurses, mental health therapists/counselors, etc. Check out your options, because they all range in their schooling and requirements!
