In my opinion, it is very easy to find a job in finance. There are several banks that offer internship opportunities and some allow you to rotate between different department, so you can decide at the end where would you like to work.

Hi when hiring someone most managers want someone they can trust will do the job effectively, are dependable and will add value to the team they are hiring for. The best way to get a job is to be referred into it by someone who knows the hiring manager or someone within the company. The second best way is to be hired into it after working as an intern in the hiring organization or in a related field. If you are not able to utilize the first two then you'll have to figure out someway to get through the filters that the job search firms use so that your application will get through to the human resources/hiring team. You can search how to do this or take an online class. Open up your job horizons to anything that is interesting to you and apply for anything that is of interest with the goal of just getting to the interview phase. Try to interview as much as possible. And be sure that you are interviewing the interviewer while they are interviewing you. Be prepared with relevant questions. Do research on the company and the people who work there. Make sure it is a place and a team where you want to spend your time and effort. Don't get discouraged. It is not easy but you will prevail if you persevere.

Finance is a very versatile and universal career choice that can be applied to many different roles and job assignments. If you pursue a Finance degree from an accredited institution with good credentials, you should be able to pursue a variety of roles in different industries (banking, technology, marketing, entertainment, sports, non-profit). A relevant consideration when determining your career path in Finance is your internship experience and after school activities. You should try to enroll in a good professional club (accounting / finance club) and apply to several relevant and unique internship opportunities.

Hi Cato, most jobs in the business world or in general are not easy to find and can sometimes come off to be extremely challenging. I myself am a Management major, and although it is needed everywhere just like finance, it takes hard work and experience to get there. The best way to get that experience is through interning in any finance role you could find. This way, you have the necessary experience to help you in having the extra push you need in getting that finance job on an efficient timeline. There are plenty recruiters that you may find especially on LinkedIn that could help you create structure on what they require when searching for an intern in a finance position for their companies. Hope this helps!

Hi Cato, I believe that having a finance business degree is a strong start to finding a job. I suggest utilizing LinkedIn and trying to network as much as you can. In addition to having the degree, it is helpful to know some people who are in the industry so they can give you some assistance and additional advice on finding the job that fits your wants and needs as a career.

Hi Cato! I wouldn’t say it’s easy, because finding a job always takes lots of time and effort, but there are definitely an abundance of jobs in finance. If you are dedicated to your studies, network with professionals who work in finance, and prepare well for your interviews, you should be able to get a job in finance. I would also recommend you try to secure internships while you are still a student, as having internship experience often makes it much easier to get a full time job (whether it’s a return offer to a firm you interned at or a job at a new firm that was impressed by your prior internship experience). Going to a school where lots of finance companies recruit for internships and jobs is also a great idea, as you’ll easily be able to meet and give your resume to finance professionals, which could lead to securing interviews and getting job offers. Best of luck!

A business finance major is a fantastic area to study and receive a degree in. This field can take you in many directions. My best advice would be to explore internships online via LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed. You can read reviews on internships through Glassdoor.com. Having internships on your resume will attach employers to reach out to you upon graduation. You can explore becoming a Financial Analyst, Financial Advisor, Book keeping, Accounting, Etc. Research the company to explore different roles that are posted there. I hope this information is helpful in your journey!
