There are MANY options within media! From traditional media companies (Comcast NBCUniversal, Disney) to digital/social (Alphabet/Google, Facbook, TikTok) to streaming (Netflix), there are so many media companies. And those I've just listed are more TV/Film-focused. There's also many publishing companies you could explore. And if you're interesting in marketing, you can also explore the agency side of the business (WPP, Omnicom).

Within media, there's content and creative development and production, but also marketing, programming, finance, business development, sales, journalism ...the list goes on!

And yes, Los Angeles, New York City are where many of these companies are headquartered. But many have regional offices and local media affiliates all over the country. San Fransisco, Miami, Philadelphia, Chicago are other cities to explore. You'll also find local news affiliates - both English and Spanish-language - in small markets all over the country.

You can start by researching companies that are of interest to you and close by, and then see what internships and/or entry-level positions are available.

Good luck!

Media is a broad field and there are a ton of opportunities, but lots of competition as well. I'd certainly suggest looking into the field further based on your interests. The industry is disproportionately centered in cities. Some fields within media are more competitive than others, however.
