Raisa Anan’s Answer

Firstly, trying to narrow down the targeted group for networking can be both productive and time-saving. Within the culinary community, narrow the area where you want to network at the moment. For instance, if one wants to network within the community of one particular cuisine, such as French cuisine, then begin by networking there first.

Next, try networking with people who are closely related. Following along to the example above, this can be people who work in European cuisines.

Secondly, if you know where you want to be in the next year, network with the people who are already there. This can be a restaurant, for example, where you want to work in the future.

Thirdly, try to utilize word-of-mouth or in-person communication effectively. People are more likely to get in contact if one has been referred or introduced by a friend/colleague.

Lastly, join social media groups within the culinary community. Only joining might not be enough, so try to be active, like posts, comment on posts and post your recipes or knowledge.

Sharlette’s Answer

The first step is having the proper algorithm on social media. Quality is a huge factor in gaining attention. Posting pictures of your culinary skills is important in having a base for networking. Socializing is the next step as you can attend events in restaurants and taste tests. Researching culinary events to attend is a great way of putting yourself out there and finding like-minded individuals. In order to research events, you can utilize eventbrite, facebook, and google.
