What book genres are the most popular right now?
One of my ultimate goals is to write my own novel and have it published. Of course, I want my book to sell, so picking the right genre is important depending on what people tend to buy. What genres are typically easier to make sales off of? #author #publishing #novels #genre #write #novelist

Hi Bianca,
What do you want to write? This is the best way to go about figuring out where you may find success. Though some genres may seem more specialized than others, all can be profitable in their own right. It's a good idea to read through a few leaders in whatever you think you want to write in. It's also a good idea to partner with a library and see if you can find what kind of stories are impacting people.
If you are unsure where to start or what you might want to write, try to find some stories that seem interesting to you. You might find that you are interested in doing a period piece, for example, and will need to research. Or maybe you want to go off the cuff and do something totally fiction and make it up. Please make sure you qualify your work if this is the case.

If your goal is sales, you're writing for the wrong reason. Find a story worth telling. Develop the characters and mold them into someone a reader will care about or absolutely loathe.
