Is getting a Bachelors worth it before joining vet tech school?

I am debating if I want to get my associate's in science and then go straight into vet tech or wait a little longer until I get my bachelor's probably in biology.

Thank you comment icon Hello Ashley, I would recommend getting your associate's in science. Any type of upper level education can help you in the real world. Employers will see that and that will help you get a job if you have upper level education. I hope this helped! Rich
Thank you comment icon There are some community colleges that offer vet tech school that include your associate of arts. Maple Woods of MCCKC is one of them. https://mcckc.edu/programs/veterinarytechnology/ Tammy Miller

I would note that there are a number of vet tech bachelors degrees and vet tech associates degrees. As someone who went back to school in an applied field after getting a degree in biology, I would encourage going straight for your end goal and getting the vet tech first. Two/three degrees isnt worth the extra cost. I would recommend an associates in vet tech then a bachelors, or double majoring in bio/animal science and vet tech. This would save you on a lot of transfer headaches/repeat classes/extra years of school. Getting a bachelors is great though, and vet tech experience could be a great boost for lab work during your bachelors.

Given the cost of a bachelor's degree today, I would try to work as a Vet Tech without a 4-year degree, to see if you really like this line of work and then determine what type of education is needed.
