Problem solving skills
Algorithm and Data Structure
Programing language ( Java , Go, Python , Angular , React)
Good Communication skills

Problem solving skills and critical thinking are key! Soft skills such as good verbal and written communication also help. You will also need to keep up with technology as it changes over time.

Communication....If you can communicate effectively in writing such as emailing or even IMing, you will go far. As well as be able to speak face to face goes a long way. You will usually be working with other departments whether it is the Sys Admins, Network Admins, DevOps, etc. and so communication will be important when trying to ask for help or explaining a concept.
Soft skills will take you places.
