what type of education do you need to become an actor? what type of education do you need to become a writer or an author? Is college a good idea for acting skills and author skills?
How much money would it be to get into college for acting/athor/writing/etc?

Hey there :-)
Theater is certainly a good major to choose if you go the route of College. But if you are looking for more specifics in the theater and writing world I would suggest looking in to a performing arts school that focuses on the arts.
Good luck

To parrot the two previous theater in some shape or form/ the arts. In relation to becoming a writer I know some schools have professional writing programs but I would bet that majoring in English/ Communications/ Language in General would give you a taste of this and there is writing involved.
Since you mentioned acting as well as writing and authorship don't forget play/screenwriting, directing, producing also crucial parts of making the magic come to life whether its on screen, on a stage, or in a park .
I did not study acting nor writing as an area of study in undergrad but having relatives and friends that did. Some applied it in the classroom at secondary or University level, and wrote some on the side, while another complimented it with Dance and have leveraged the two to teach both dance and land rolls touring in bands and in Hawkeye on Disney Plus.
Education and a degree are important but of equal value is training and quality practice and time devoted to sharpening ones skills through: classes, workshops ,improvisation, and watching/ reading about the process how RDJr became Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes or Robin Williams breadth of talent from Patch Adams to his role in Good Will hunting, Dead Poets Society etc. Lastly READ READ READ READ, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE,READ,RE READ, read the preface of works, the about the author, the acknowledgements etc.
keep writing and reading etc.
