How difficult was nursing school?

I took some AP science classes in high school, and I struggled!! Is it even more difficult?

Thank you comment icon I have seen the material in my son's AP classes. It was quite advanced and I believe would prepare anyone for the college level classes required for medicine/Premed or nursing. Please don't be discouraged that you found these classes challenging. I found things got a little easier after all the foundation classes. After you put in the time and effort for the core classes you may find it becomes more interesting and seems easier. You were obviously motivated to take AP classes. You must be a hard worker. I think you'll do well if you continue to work hard. Elizabeth Lambert

Nursing school is difficult, but not impossible. I had very little social life during the final two years, and I spent a lot of time studying. The good thing is that your professors want you to succeed. Take advantage of after hours labs and tutoring sessions. It is worth it in the end, and you may even decide to go back to graduate school when you’re done!

Hi Fiona !
I would say that nursing school is difficult. When I was in school especially my core classes I was unable to work because of the intensity of my study schedule. However it is a rewarding career. I believe studying towards a goal and an opportunity to become a registered nurse increases you motivation. It is also amazing to see the impact of your increasing knowledge. So while it is hard if you really want it you can do it !!!

There’s no right or wrong answer to this. Ultimately, it depends on you. And yes, I understand that’s not really an answer people like to hear.

I had a AP few classes I struggled with back in high school. Even in college with my first bachelor’s degree, I really struggled.

However when I went back for my nursing degree, things clicked well for me. Maybe because I was a bit older and motivated, or the fact that I was really intrigued by nursing and all that I could do. I did well during nursing school.

So with that being said, it’s definitely doable. Good luck to you! :)

YES! In Texas a BSN registered nurse is required to take Chemistry, microbiology, College Algebra, Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Psychology and Sociology to name a few. It was hard and at times I wanted to quit but I didn't. I struggled and had to study a lot but I am thankful that I didn't quit even when I wanted to. I am living proof that where there is a will, there is a way.
