The main thing is to practice! Most professional gamers don't treat gaming as a hobby but as a job that they dedicate 8-12 hours a day to. I knew someone who was a professional Smash player and he spent hours perfecting specific moves so that he could break them out during competitions.
As for more practical tips around YouTube gaming, Damion answered a similar question (https://www.careervillage.org/questions/511705/what-do-you-need-to-be-a-professional-gamer) a few months back and he suggests:
1. You have to be able to talk clearly so that others will understand you when you are live streaming
2. You need a decent microphone rig so that others can hear you when you are talking while streaming
3. You need to be interesting so that people will be interested in what you are doing
4. Find a game that others will like that you can pass on helpful hints, tricks, and information
5. A decent chair for comfort
6. A Twitch account and/or a YouTube account for content creation
7. A willingness to take the heat from the online community if something you say or do is not well recieved.
Another thing to keep in mind is that there are TONS of careers out there that would allow you to work on/play games without having to be a gamer. If you work at a gaming company (ex: Playstation), there is a good chance they're going to ask you test the games.
