The BSN degree doesn’t require anything high tech, just something basic that can run Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and have enough memory to hold LockDown Browser or something similar for test/quiz taking.

I would suggest purchasing a subscription to PERRLA www.PERRLA.com
It formats your paper for you as well as your references. I was using a free formatting service I found online, but sometimes there were errors I didn’t catch.

Also, most schools give you a free Microsoft Office suite, so don’t purchase one until you check that out. I had a Mac, and they accept Microsoft easily now, you just click the one the Microsoft Office download for Mac. I had no problems with getting my associates, bachelor’s or masters in nursing on a basic MacBook, and later, Mac Air. I went to 3 different nursing schools for my degrees and feel I can give a solid answer on this 👍🏼

In Nursing you require to take notes and may need to use pdf files and take online classes some of the times.
Word files ,PowerPoint presentation are also used at most of the times
I have suggested many and I would like to suggest you too.
My suggestion will be for nursing and will suffice the future years too

Go for a Dell laptop with atleast
*RAM* 8 GB or 16 GB(depends on budget)
*Storage Type* - 128 or 256 GB SSD
*Graphics* - a basic one if good ..most of the laptops comes with inbuilt graphic cards like Intel Iris is something you can go for that also work as a high end available as compared to NVIDIA or AMD graphic cards(for high end graphics usage)
Dell.com has customizations available as per your budget.
The most important thing is the onsite / accidental warranty you should check out as it will be added advantage in case of laptop failure / or an accidental damage.
Also check with sales team as some of the laptops comes with Windows and free MS office or may be at discounted price.
You may go for Microsoft office Home and Student .( It will include Word Excel and PowerPoint , lifetime purchase)
You may check other brands too.But the above specs should be must .You would never regret while using your system.
It will give a smooth user friendly experience.
Thank you.

It honestly doesn't matter, I peronsally like the Surface because you can detach it and use it as a tablet (very limited tablet capability, not like an Ipad or anything). But something that has good memory, you will be writing papers and wanting to save your things.

Hi Tara! I suggest that you first check the school's website for where you plan to obtain your BSN. Sometimes schools prefer their students to purchase a computer that can run Windows (Macs cannot do this without installing a workaround). Also, check out the school's website to see if they offer packages such as Microsoft Office for free!
