I would look at your target schools and their admission deadlines. Remember that Early Action or Early Decision deadlines sometimes account for scholarship deadlines too. Always be early - it won't hurt.
Part of the reason I can afford my education is because I applied early in high school. Best of luck!

The first thing is to ask yourself WHEN you want to go to college.
That will set the starting point for the timeline of application.
Most school applications cycle over 1-2 semesters or the entire year depending on their admission timelines.
So for example let's say you want to go to college in Fall 2023 as a freshman, then we would now find out from the schools website what the deadline for their application is and what kinds of admissions they offer..some schools do regular admission which means you get admitted with the general populace ok the general timeline. Some schools have "early decision" admission which means you commit to them and they commit to you by giving you an earlier response to your application etc
Hope this helps
Visit their website and under admission search for "admission timelines" or similar verbiage

Charlie, if you're wondering when to apply to college, that answer is: the sooner the better. That said, most schools have deadlines in January for the Fall term, and you'll find most are around January 1 or 15 (and you'll typically get a decision in March). Admissions experts say you should begin the application process by the start of your senior year of high school. While they note colleges may impose different deadlines, most applications for regular fall admission will come due by January. Considering that schools have flexibility to set their own calendars, some colleges may push that date back into early spring.
I recommend that you start making a list of potential colleges and getting organized with the assistance of your parents and school counselors during your junior year of high school.
Charlie, the college application process is pretty standard at most schools. Typically, you take the required tests, write a personal statement, then submit your application.
Early Decision. Schools with early decision deadlines allow you to apply months earlier and thus get a decision months earlier. Deadlines for early decision applications are often in November, usually November 1 or 15, and you may hear back in December. Note that some schools have stipulations on early decision applications that might require students to enroll there if accepted.

Start your applications early so you have time to go back and revise while also having time to submit it before the deadline.
