Tammy’s Answer

Honestly I take advanced classes and learning all the time. My reason is the more I learn and know, the more up to date I will be for not only myself, my employer but also for my patients and clients. The more you know and can do,the more marketable you also make yourself. Hope this helps.

Antonio, one reason I went for advanced training or a 2 year graduate degree was to switch careers. Of course it depends which career you're switching to. Hope this helps.
It would help us to understand what kind of advanced training you're referring to - certification? apprenticeship? formal college degree? alternate online course etc.?

Dirk’s Answer

Not sure what exactly you mean.

What type of job are you referring to? And what kind of advanced training? I.e, if you are interested in becoming an Electrician, and you are debating whether you should go to college for 4 years or start an apprenticeship with a licensed electrician, then the 'advanced training of going to college' is probably a waste of money. Besides, you have 4 years of relevant work experience by the time you'd be otherwise done with college.

But in other cases, you probably need some form of advanced training. Many certificates and licenses that you could try to get might require some form of training. Exaggeratingly speaking, I would not want to see a brain surgeon who did not get the Advanced training of 'Med School'.

My advise is to look at your end goal. What do you want to be/accomplish. Then, check what - if anything - is required to get there.

Shearon’s Answer

Advanced training can open the door for someone to do much more than what they are doing now. They are typically more qualified through this advanced training and have more career satisfaction. Most of the time, you would also get a pay bump or extra pay just from being more qualified. I encourage those to really think about all of their career goals they would like to accomplish and see if they align with them climbing their career ladder.
