Todd’s Answer

People often rely too much on prestige and tenure as key indicators of success. The standout employees at my company have one thing in common: they all have big ideas and execute against them. While an ivy league education will give you access to a strong network, ultimately, your entrepreneurial success hinges on your ability to strategize, contribute and deliver. Whether an employee graduated from Stanford or dropped out of college at 20, I measure them by the value they bring to the business.

Nancy’s Answer

You can learn about entrepreneurship at many colleges of business, large and small. There are many possible majors for a future entrepreneur, from finance to computer science. Good business and tech schools have faculty that have taught alumni who are actually in business, and offer internship or career networking opportunities through alumni groups or partnerships with firms that recruit on campus. Talk to faculty and career planning advisors at colleges you are interested in to learn more about what each school offers. Also investigate the benefits of considering a Master of Business Administration degree at some point in the future.

Tina’s Answer

If you can, best college we have in Texas, in my opinion, is University of Texas Dallas. Reason: I've taught at two universities in Texas and I am the Founder of the Center for Women Entrepreneurs at one large public university.
UTD has its Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) with the full faculty at IIE all having small business or non-profit start-up experience, that includes having their butt on the line for profit or business development.

Any college you consider for "entrepreneurship" please please consider looking and talking with the faculty in their 'entrepreneurship' program. Ask if they use the book by BLACK (check out online). Ask if they attend National and International Small Business Association meetings/conferences.

If the university you are interested in attending has a bunch of PhD's that never owned a business - run.

Chi’s Answer

if you already have a business concept in mind, try going to a college that offers MBA programs. Finance and accounting courses will help. You don't need a degree.

From personal experience, I suggest reading the book - The Personal MBA which gives some very good insight to gain a basic understanding of Businesses. I've read it multiple times and continue to find it informative and grounding. There are many paths to becoming an entrepreneur but all of them should start by understanding exactly what you are getting into. I like this particular book because it opens up your mind to many others that will undoubtedly help you choose your course.
