Both MIT and Stanford are great, world-renowned universities. So this comes down to a couple of things to make a comparison; for starters:
1) Your major or career route and the academic quality that matches your road to success
2) Location of the school versus your liking and distance from your support system (ex. family, friends)
3) Campus environment and whichever you can 'fit' better in / school size?
4) Support systems, whether it be student clubs/organizations, career centers, writing assistances/tutoring, counseling and psychological services
5) Overall cost of the schools
Follow up for further assistance! Otherwise, best of luck in your college selection!

Chris's answer is spot on. I just want to provide one resource for you that I think might help. Check out the website Niche.com. They rate colleges all around the school, and they look at a wide variety of factors that they rank schools on. Students and families can also leave reviews. It is a great website to compare different schools. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I believe the quality of the program or area of study you're looking to go into at each school is one of the most important factors in making this decision. While one school may be more or less reputable overall than another, the reputation a specific major or program has within the professional world can provide a different number of advantages or disadvantages for you upon graduation. I'd do some research into the rankings of your particular major/area of study to see where each school is ranked, as this will help you determine how the graduates of each program are perceived in the industry for potential future career opportunities.
