Psychiatrists, as part of their 4-year medical residency program become highly trained in psychoparmacology. Therefore, they spend a lot of time keep up on what are the best medicines for treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia. My understanding is that if your clientele is the highly psychotic or criminally insane, it is not unusual to be handing out a medical prescription after just your first meeting with the patient.
