Hello wonderful question. There are many things that I love about patient care, and that is the team work and collaboration it takes to care for the entire person.
Creating healthy professional relationships, and having the respect for all the members of the team are essential.
(I.e, nurses, doctors, dietician, housekeeping, etc.)
The part that I currently do not like, is the amount of re-admissions for the same dx’s and lack of community resources for chronic diseases. Over the past 20+ years in healthcare, illnesses have increased in complexity.
Thank you :)

Pros:
- only need to work 3 days; 3 shifts a week = full time
- direct patient care and meeting people from all walks of life
- nursing is a fulfilling career; you go home so grateful and learn not to take life for granted
- always learning something new
Cons:
- nurses wear many hats this can be stressful depending on specialty and where you work
- long hours 12 hour shifts really mean 13- 14 hour shifts when you factor in documentation and giving shift report
- fast paced work environment (again depends on specialty)

The most rewarding in Nursing for me would be helping others in their time of need. The least rewarding is the 12 hour shifts, using rotating (3) 12’s in a row; however, there are so many options outside of 12 hour shifts offered outside of the hospital setting.
