What would I have to do to become a Professional Car Photographer

I have always wanted to become a Professional Photographer.

Thank you comment icon This is great that you are really thinking about what niche photography you'd like to delve into when becoming a professional car photographer. My advice to you is to think of other interests that you may have in photography. If you continue exploring more interests/subjects of photography, you may find out that you will want to pursue other interests. Cheryl Guerrero

You have not indicated what sort of car photography interests you. So, I'll offer suggestions for becoming a photographer. You will need to get a DSLR camera and at least one lens to start. Find a book, any author, with a title like "the Complete Book of Digital Photography." That will teach you how a camera works. Become completely comfortable with your gear and how it works. Shoot anything and everything. Look at what pro shooters are producing so you are aware of the kind of images the markets will pay for. Go to college and get a degree! You do not need a degree to be a professional photographer, but you will need to earn a living as you build your photo business.
If you are interested in shooting auto advertisements, you will need a lot of money and gear to open a studio. If you're going to pursue auto racing you won't need a studio. But, you will eventually need high end cameras and lenses.
Research the various photographers who shoot cars. look at their work and learn.
Good luck, Jacob.
