Hello Jaleel,
As mentioned, this depends primarily where you work at geographically. Not only in the larger cities, but areas with more affluent residents will pay more. Plus, many places pay based on your experience. A popular method of pay is on a pay scale. After so many years of service you are moved up the scale. So again, many variables to consider.

The median pay will depend on the community size. This means rural areas, suburban and city size. This fluctuates with experience. The median pay in Georgia is around 40-45 thousand per year.

As far as I know the average start salary is 50K a year, with the possibility for raised and promotions upon experience. This depends on the geographic area as well (e.g., CA cost of living are much higher than IN, so the salary would be higher to accommodate that).

To add to the info provided in the previous answers :
In addition to the salary there are other benefits to consider if you haven't already done so.
Some detectives work a great deal of overtime. This may be good or bad. It can increase the pay tremendously but make work life balance a difficult thing. Also a pension that you get when you retire can be significant. Sometimes you can even take your pension at retirement age and get rehired so that you are collecting salary and pension simultaneously.
Pay can vary depending on where you are. Some police don't get paid enough for the job imo while others get more. If you can get the right job in the right place you can do well.
