Hello, Francesca ~
Without much detail about what you're currently doing, my first tip would be to go to nursing school. Traditionally, most midwifes are nurses. One thing I would suggest is that you also take some courses in sociology and psychology because you will need to be able to serve expectant and delivering mothers with an understanding of their circumstances.
It does take years of study and certification, but it is a most rewarding career - bringing people into the world ! There is a website I can suggest that can give you specific information https://www.naturalhealers.com/midwifery/schools/ and I am sure that you will find this helpful.
Best wishes to you on your journey to become a Midwife !
P.S. Francesca and Alexandra, I am pleased that you would appreciate further information. In general, the people you meet along the way in college will be a great asset to you. Networking is essential for any career as will be in Midwifery.
Once you receive your credentials, open a Linked In account to showcase your education and experience. You can also seek employment through Linked In. Another wonderful employment site is Indeed.com. You can set up notifications specifically for jobs as a Midwife. Looking a little further into the future, you could also consider working for yourself as an independent Midwife. In the meantime, develop all of your interpersonal people skills . I hope that this has been an additional help and again wish you the best in your education. Midwifery is making a strong comeback and I am happy to see that you are interested.
