I have this dream to study aboard after completing high school and pursue something in business and finance. What are your views about that?

I have talked to people, and they all seem to think that this is a great and passionate idea. I want some guidance on the best universities which are not too expensive and if it is, scholarships are provided.

Hi Kayana -
Be careful - you may love it too much and never come back :) A lot of the comments already provided are really good. A way to test this before jumping in with both feet is if you are thinking of post graduate work after college is to do your undergraduate studies in the states and select a school with an international study abroad program - and take advantage of that. If its something you like - then look for graduate programs in the desired country after graduation. My daughter did this - studied for a semester in Germany then came home, finished her degree and worked a few years to save money and moved back for her Masters in Business. She found work in country and still resides there. One thing to consider that helped her transition - she began taking German language classes once she locked in on her desired location, which definitely helped once she was in-country. Good luck!

Holly’s Answer

Hi Kayana!
Many colleges and universities offer multiple Study Abroad programs. In these programs, you get to spend a semester in another country while pursuing your degree. Personally, I was able to study Finance and Economics in Florence through a local program offered there. There are so many of these to choose from, so it's important that you do research and ensure that the program you choose offers the right credits for you. Luckily, there are TONS of programs abroad that offer business and finance courses! If you speak with a counselor at the career center, or if you are still in your college search, you can check to see what options your school offers. You will hopefully be surprised about the amount of opportunities available!

Do it! College is the time to network and get to know people. Take advantage of every opportunity you can get to see different parts of the world and make new connections. Those connections are what will help you succeed in your career later on.
