You can develop your own game and sell on iOS and/or Android OS.
First, you need a skills to write/develop software. Get a degree in Computer Science at a state university.
Develop game and share with your friends to seek feedback.
You will never have to work at Gamestop which is losing money hand over fist.

What level are you at GameStop? Where do you want to go? What do you see yourself doing in 3-5 years? What are you interested in?

Randy recommends the following next steps:

Think about what you want to do in 3-4 years - then work on building skills to get you there.
Figure out what you enjoy doing. Is it helping customers? Is it gaming? Is it training people? Then look at ALL the ways that career could pan out and what might be the most financially lucrative. IE If you are into gaming you could also do gamifying other areas - IE medical industry.
