Analisa’s Answer

1) Google "How to become a Neurodiagnostics Technologist".
2) Speak (in person) to the career services advisor for the schools that offer that certification/degree. See if they have any alumni that are willing to speak with you about the career.
3) Find the National Association of Neurodiagnostics and start asking questions there.
aset.org is a community of Neurodiagnostic professionals. They are here to help.
Good Luck!!

Bailey’s Answer

What a great question! I love how the medical field has multiple avenues. It is fantastic that you are researching now! I would highly suggest finding a company that hires neurodiagnostic techs. Sometimes you can reach out and ask a lot of questions like: “what type of people do you hire? Where did a majority of your employees go to school? Can I shadow a shift? Do you have any internships? Etc….” You can also look up job requirements on applications to see what employers are looking for. Once you are certain that this is the path for you, reach out to local colleges and start the dream! Sometimes you can find online college as well. Good luck!

What I found:
- Associate's degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology or equivalent education and experience required

- The ability to obtain ABRET Registry in Electroencephalography and/or AAET, ABEM Registry in NCS required within 24 months of hire.

-Graduation from an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology training program.

-BLS - basic life support

Chad’s Answer

1. Communicate with career development resources or counselor at your school.
2. Do your research. What have other people done? Can you find a technologist online or in person and ask what they did.
3. Find people in the field willing to mentor you.
4. Learn if it's really what you want. Where are you start is not where you end up and it’s OK to change. But build foundational knowledge in the field and find out if your interests are curious along the way that leads you towards a path that’s perfect for you and your development.
