Diana’s Answer

First you have to decide whether you want to pursue an associates or bachelors degree. If you want to pursue an associates in dental hygiene it will take about 2-3 years including pre-requisites and your core classes. For a Bachelors degree in dental hygiene it will take four years. You will have to apply to the dental hygiene program and they will have you submit your transcripts to check your grades and if you have completed your pre-requisites, they will also focus in your science GPA, you will need completed hours shadowing a dental hygienist and have you write an essay about why you want to become a dental hygienist. If you seem like a good candidate, they will schedule you for an interview in which they will ask you a series of questions. Also if you decide to get your associates but later want to get your bachelors degree, many colleges offer a degree completion.
