Hello Brianna, I do understand your misgiving but knowledge and experience are advantages for you. In the absence of a certified teacher, you may be called upon to step in to play a role. Imagine being allowed to teach and you lack the knowledge to deliver. Brianna, college is a necessity and an added plus for you as a Para-educator. You can make it through college!! I believe in you.

Hello-. Para Educators are vital to schools. You do not need a college education to become a Para. You need to have a HS diploma and to take a test including some basic math, English and science. It is a very rewarding field.
Complete an application for the school you wish to work.
Review some basic core subjects

Hi Brianna!
I think education requirements vary by state and districts. Some districts require a GED or high school diploma and others require an associates degree. Sometimes they will look at any experience you have in addition to education so include that on your resume if you have any. I would also inquire with someone from HR about the requirements needed for the position to better prepare yourself. Paraeducators help so much. I started as one myself prior to becoming a teacher, and it’s not an easy job! I learned so much during my time and had a great experience with the teachers and classes. Best of luck to you on your journey!
Sincerely,
Brittany W.

You don't need teacher certifications to be a paraeducator, but school systems, require education in your field to qualify for the gig. you'll need at least two years of college or an associate degree to get a job in the field. If you're working with kids with special needs, you'll probably have to pass a skills test. A four-year education degree will make you more marketable and improve your skillset. Some schools also require training in CPR and first aid.
