If you are referring to a pharmacy technician, it is different in retail vs hospital.

Retail:
1. Preparing new prescription and refill requests for patients
2. Dispensing medication to patients per the prescription, or provider’s orders
3. Packing and labeling a prescribed medication
4. Processing insurance claims
5. Tracking inventory
6. Answering phone calls
7. Filling automated dispensing machines (depends on pharmacy)

Hospital:
1. Assist with preparing drugs
2. Fill prescriptions
3. Take inventory and order supplies
4. Fill out hospital paperwork.
5. Answering phone calls from other units of the hospital
