Different Shop Experiences

What is a dealership shop like compared to a smaller second-hand shop? What certifications are recommended for working in a dealership shop?

Hello Alex, thank you for your question. It is up to each state to make sure each dealership/small business has it's certifications. But as far as I know it doesn't matter what kind of shop you own there has to be paperwork on file with the state. Now as to your question about my experience in the dealership/small business. I would say I have had very good experiences in some smaller shops, I have been very lucky. Dealership shops have also treated me very well. Best of luck

It’s to your advantage to get all the ASE’s eventually, if you plan to make this a career.
The biggest difference between a dealership and independent in my opinion is the training, dealerships need to send employees to manufacture training so you will have access to most current technology.
