What would be a good office or desk job?
I'd like to know what would be a good desk job since I'll be doing an office administration class and i would like some pointers to a good start to a desk job since i don't know where to look yet. Also if i were to go to work at a police station are there any potions that require being at a desk?

Hi! Look for jobs that say "entry level position". This means that you do not have to have any experience and they will train you. You could start as a receptionist in a office...could be a doctor's office, law firm, financial services firm. If you know what field you want to work in you could focus on those offices since the receptionists usually get promoted to other positions in the same office. It's a great way to get your foot in the door!
Thank you for the advice, Noelle.

Hello!
If you're unsure about the career path you'd like to pursue long-term, there are plenty of desk jobs or entry level positions across the entire job market that would give you a good lead into the relevant industry. However, a good desk job (or a good job in general) is one in which you feel as though you are being provided with sufficient support/resources, you're surrounded by good team members that are championing your growth, and that you're content overall. Don't settle for a job that doesn't meet your expectations/makes you unhappy because, at the end of the day, the best job for you is the one that you enjoy performing.

+1 to Noelle's response and would add that Human Resources is a large field and something that may be aligned with your interests if that class is something you enjoy. HR done well is something very valuable to companies and can be a fulfilling career path.
Thank you, Brook!

Hello Tamadrey,
I think it would really depend on your goals and the experience you're wanting to gain. Think about the career you're interested in going into and begin to look for entry level jobs within it. Always take a moment to research the job and if you know of anyone in the role already, ask them about the benefits of the job versus the challenges so that you'll have a good idea of what to expect in the short and long term.
Some good places to start are: customer service roles, administrative assistants, front desk attendants, clerical and HR generalist.
I hope this helps!

Hello Tamatrey, thank you for your question. Yes, there are a lot of offices looking for desk workers. Try putting in applications at your local bank or maybe your local branch of the IRS. As far as the police department if you put in an application there, I would suggest that you not put on it you're only looking for a desk position, let your skill set speak for itself. One last thing when management is looking to hire, they generally overlook the guy who seems to be only interested in sitting down. Best of luck
Thank you!
