Sabrina’s Answer

It all depends on the job you choose in the military. If you decide on infantry, motor T, or combat engineer, for example, you would be more likely to do field training both on base or in another county for training than someone that works in a military brig or police position. I work at the brig and know people who have been in for over five years and have not been to the field, so again field training primarily matters on the MOS that you choose.

Sikawayi’s Answer

Hello Tamadrey, thank you for your question. Most military forces go out into the field once every 2 years. Even though you may be training most of that time you can be sent to another unit at any time because they need your skill set. And it also depends on which branch you join how often you'll be gone. As far as seeing any action until your needed, you can't imagen what it's like to see your battle buddy get their legs blown off or watch a child blow himself up because they were told they were doing it in the name of religion Please remember to not to romanticize any kind of action. Best of luck

Scott’s Answer

Great question!

Currently I am active duty military and have been doing this for about 11 years now. Prior to the job I do now, I worked in the combat career field. In specific jobs such as those you will spend a good amount of time in the field. Other jobs, such as communications and Human Resources, typically do not spend a large amount of time in the field, however they will still have exposure to it. It really depends on what job you would like to do. Hope this helps!

James’s Answer

It depends on your job field. If you are in combat jobs, chances are you will be in the field and preparing for deployment on a frequent basis. If you are not in a combat job, you will likely not be in the field.
